چکیده

Abstract. In this paper, the first steps towards integrating a mass sensing system into an existing miniaturized ceramic DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) chip are presented. A vibration setup is developed based on mass-dependent change in frequency of as oscillating cantilever. simulation model reveals that resolution measurement can be improved by reducing thickness. study, different methods (acoustic, optical, and piezoresistive) investigated. Three complete systems set up evaluated with regard to their integration chip. All presented show promising results already allow measurements 100 µg.

An optical differential scanning calorimeter cryomicroscope.

An optical-DSC system was designed, built, tested, calibrated and verified to incorporate into a single device the capability for simultaneous optical cryomicroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). This instrument can be used to obtain both visual and thermal data for an individual specimen subjected to a defined freezing and thawing protocol with very little compromise in quality ...

Ultrasensitive, fast, thin-film differential scanning calorimeter

The equipment for an ultrasensitive, fast, thin-film differential scanning calorimetry @~TDSC! or nanocalorimetry# technique is described. The calorimetric cell ~;0.30 cm! operates by applying a short ~;10 ms! dc current pulse ~;10 mA! to a thin ~;50 nm! patterned metal strip, which is supported by a thin ~;50 nm! SiNx membrane. The calorimeter operates at high heating rates ~15–200 K/ms! and i...

A portable bioelectronic sensing system (BESSY) for environmental deployment incorporating differential microbial sensing in miniaturized reactors

Current technologies are lacking in the area of deployable, in situ monitoring of complex chemicals in environmental applications. Microorganisms metabolize various chemical compounds and can be engineered to be analyte-specific making them naturally suited for robust chemical sensing. However, current electrochemical microbial biosensors use large and expensive electrochemistry equipment not s...

Surface Differential Scanning Calorimeter for Evaluation of Evaporative Cooling Efficiency

We developed a Surface Differential Scanning Calorimeter for the quantitative analyses of thermodynamic and heat transfer properties of thin fibrous and porous samples. It has been demonstrated that the calorimeter is capable of measuring cooling power as well as temperature decrease in a reliable and reproducible way. Considering its low cost the equipment can be a valuable option for studying...

Inland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques

The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...
